I'm Aurélie Beatley, a Franco-American illustrator and animator based in Scotland. I hold a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MLitt in Celtic Studies from the University of Glasgow.

My parents listened to a lot of folk and trad music, and my father made it a point to come home every night and read me bedtime stories out of the Lord of the Rings and the Táin Bó Cúailnge, and other national epics known to be accessible to five year olds. They are still wondering where they went wrong.

Alongside my studio practice, I bring over fifteen years of experience as an art director and animator in television and digital media. I spent six years on the digital content team at Smithsonian Channel, where I led visual development across short-form series, editorial animation, and documentary storytelling. My work has received industry recognition, including a Telly Award, and has been commissioned by organisations such as National Geographic, the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Recently I've had the pleasure of illustrating Manchán Magan's Brehons and Brahmins, as well as the cover of his Focail na mBan anthology.
